Sir Terence Matthews is the founder and Chairman of Wesley Clover, an investment vehicle and holding company. Terry has either founded or funded over 80 companies since 1972 including Newbridge Networks, a company he founded in 1986 and which became a leader in the worldwide data networking industry. In 1972, before launching Newbridge, Terry co-founded Mitel, a world leader in the design and manufacture of enterprise communications solutions. Wesley Clover now has interests in a broad range of next-generation technology companies, real estate, hotels and resorts.
In addition to being the Vice Chairman of TaraSpan, Terry is also Chairman or Director of a number of private and publicly traded companies.
Terry holds an honours degree in electronics from the University of Wales and is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers and of the Royal Academy of Engineering. In 1994, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, and in the 2001 Queen’s Birthday Honours, he was awarded a Knighthood. In 2011, he was appointed Patron of the European Cancer Stem Cell Research Institute.
Dr. Sommerer is currently President of Erlauf Holdings Ltd., a private equity investment company located in Canada and serves on the Board of Directors of a number of privately held technology companies.
In the period from 1996 to 2004 he founded, obtained financing for, and served as Chairman of three Internet oriented companies: GoodContacts Research Ltd., a contact management software company acquired by Reunion.com in 2004; Coventus Inc., an internet-based service for business travellers, which was liquidated in 2001; and Vienna Systems Corporation, a pioneer of voice-over-Internet technology acquired by Nokia Corporation in 1998.
From 1990 to 1998 Dr. Sommerer served as President, COO, Director and Vice-Chairman of Newbridge Networks Corporation, which was subsequently acquired by Alcatel for over $7 billion. Prior to Newbridge, he served in a number of technical, administrative and general management roles at Mitel Corporation and ITT Austria GmbH, now also part of Alcatel-Lucent.
Dr. Sommerer obtained the academic title of Dr.rer.soc.oec. from Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien in 2007, after graduating with a professional engineering degree (Ing.) from HTBLuVA Mödling, Austria in 1968.
Suhas is Director of TaraSpan Inc. With over two decades of experience in IT industry, Suhas brings with him the sector knowledge and expertise to head the TaraSpan Solutions Technology Division in Pune. In 1996, Suhas founded Telesoft, a software outsourcing firm offering software consulting services to US companies. He successfully managed the delivery of over 40 small and large projects to US clients. TaraSpan acquired Telesoft in 2008.
Before founding Telesoft, Suhas worked in several Silicon Valley companies such as IBM (Rolm), Centigram, Intel and Metra Instruments. He holds a MS – Electrical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and a B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai.
Mike Manson is the Chairman and co-founder of TaraSpan, and a strong proponent of global expansion for technology companies. Earlier he served as the CEO of TaraSpan. In 2005 Mike chose to focus on India as a market destination for world-class products from the west and as a source of exceptional technical talent by providing a platform for western technology companies to succeed in India.
Today TaraSpan is the pre-eminent developer and implementer of India strategies for western technology companies. Mike is formerly Senior Vice President and General Manager at Alcatel, where he led a global business unit with software development centers in California, Canada, Belgium, Spain and India. Prior to Alcatel, he held executive positions at Newbridge Networks in roles spanning product line management, business development and strategic alliances. Mike is a frequently invited speaker on doing business in India. Mike serves on the board of directors of TaraSpan Inc. in Canada, and TaraSpan Solutions Pvt Ltd in India. In 2012 Mike was appointed to the Canada-India ICT Working Group by the Government of Canada, and to the Dean’s Advisory Council of the Laurier School of Business and Economics at Wilfred Laurier University.
Mike holds a BASc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada.
Peter Cleveland is currently Chief Executive ofCleveland Leadership Group Inc., a business strategy Firm. With more than forty years advising business leaders in companies of all size in all sectors he spent thirty three years in various roles with Ernst and Young Inc. “EY”. The last ten years with the Firm he was Managing Partner of the Ottawa office specializing in financial restructurings and strategic planning.
By profession he is a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant (FCPA); Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) (Ret’d); and Canadian Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP) (Ret’d).
